Who We Are
As Sabiqun Montessori was founded on a simple belief: children thrive when their minds and hearts are nurtured together. The name As Sabiqun means “the forerunners” in Arabic,  those who strive to be first in goodness, character, and faith. This is the vision that guides everything we do.
We combine two powerful approaches to raise confident, principled, and capable children: the Montessori method and Islamic values.
Montessori gives each child the space to explore, choose, and learn at his/her own pace. Islam provides the moral compass grounding their curiosity in sincerity, service, and responsibility. Together, they create an environment where learning is meaningful, purposeful, and deeply connected to the child’s identity.

Founder's Story
How it All Started: A Dream and a Big Heart
From childhood, Kendall knew she was meant to teach. What started with lining up dolls grew into a calling shaped by her studies, Montessori training, and co-founding an African-centered, Montessori school in Boston, Massachusetts. Two moments refined her purpose even more: embracing Islam and becoming a mother. Islam gave her work meaning; motherhood showed her how Montessori builds confidence and dignity.
Her move from the U.S. to Nigeria was intentional: she wanted her children raised where faith is lived, culture is honoured, and learning shapes both character and intellect.
As Sabiqun Montessori is the expression of that journey: a school rooted in faith, community, and service because every child deserves an education that affirms them. Every parent deserves alignment. And every community needs leaders who carry goodness into the world.

Our Community
Community is at the heart of As Sabiqun.
Our classrooms are multi-age, collaborative, and designed for real growth. Older children naturally mentor younger ones. Practical life skills build confidence and independence. Service is woven into daily routines. Learning extends into family life, community life, and the natural world.
We teach in English, Arabic, and Hausa to strengthen culture, connection, and communication. We encourage children to understand who they are, where they come from, and the values they carry.
As Sabiqun Montessori is more than a school it is a generational vision. What begins in early childhood extends into the future through teacher development, family support, and community learning. Our goal is to raise children who grow into adults of character, competence, and contribution… forerunners who uplift their families, strengthen their communities, and serve with sincerity.
